Announcing the 2019 Winners of the College Essay Contest
In 2019, for the first time, 1990 Institute has offered an essay contest focused on college and university students, with the goal of encouraging deep scholarship on modern China. We are proud to announce that the following university students have won prizes of $1,000.00 each in the following categories:
- Women in Modern China: Melodie Liu, “The Self and the Other: A New Look at Women’s Rights in Modern Chinese Thought through Lu Xun and Ding Ling”
- Technology in Modern China: Wendy Han, “Turning to Telemedicine: How Technology can Mitigate the Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Epidemic in China”
